Highlights:

  • Indiana Resources identifies titanium source rocks at the Carne prospect, part of its Gawler Craton project.
  • The project is positioned between historically significant gold mining areas and holds potential for gold, rare earths, and titanium.
  • Future exploration includes focused drilling to delineate resource potential further.

Indiana Resources (ASX:IDA) has unveiled promising discoveries of titanium source rocks at the Carne prospect, a noteworthy occurrence within its extensive Gawler Craton project in South Australia. Located a short distance from Petratherm’s Rosewood titanium deposit, this key development reinforces the prospectivity of a region already known for its gold and rare earth elements.

The Gawler Craton project, positioned strategically between the historic gold mining hubs of Tunkillia and Tarcoola, is gaining attention with its potential for gold, rare earth elements (REEs), and titanium mineralization. The company has spotlighted important drilling results from the Minos prospect, which recently revealed impressive gold grades of up to 45.8g/t through reverse circulation (RC) drilling.

A crucial aspect of the Carne prospect is the identification of several instances of Muckanippie Suite Anorthosite, the same source rock supplying the high-grade Rosewood deposit. Recent drilling efforts returned notable intersects with up to 8 meters at 1.3% titanium from just 12 meters depth, adding a new dimension to the project’s mineral potential.

This development aligns with increasing global demand for titanium dioxide feedstocks, essential in many modern technologies, including electric vehicles, battery storage systems, wind turbines, and as an alloy in steel and pigments. The region's mineral wealth is further underscored by Petratherm’s nearby findings of a high-titanium leucoxene and rutile product with an average TiO2 grade of 93%.

Indiana Resources’ CEO Lindsay Owler has expressed optimism about the prospectivity of the Carne titanium discovery, highlighting its geological credentials and strategic location. The 2025 exploration agenda is set to be dynamic, with a range of targets, including advanced gold and titanium, poised for intensive drilling. This progress comes amid a booming market for titanium, buoyed by positive gold results from ongoing drill programs at the Minos prospect and robust funding in place to sustain exploration initiatives.

Looking ahead, the focus shifts to the forthcoming permitting process at Carne in preparation for field activities in 2025. Priority is placed on follow-up drilling, which will incorporate mapping, sampling, and aircore drilling aimed at uncovering sedimentary accumulation zones where titanium-rich minerals might be concentrated.

Concurrently, diamond drilling efforts persist at the Minos gold project, targeting high-grade extensions and striving to delineate a resource within the year. Anticipation builds for further assay results from Minos in the coming weeks, promising to build on the momentum generated by recent discoveries.

This detailed outlook showcases the strategic direction and exploratory potential of Indiana Resources, positioning the Gawler Craton project as a promising player in the pursuit of valuable mineral deposits essential for modern technological and industrial applications.
