- GreenTech Metals (ASX:GRE) confirms deeper mineralisation at Whundo copper project.
- Assay results expected to refine future exploration targets.
- Strategic drilling adjustments made due to weather challenges.
GreenTech Metals (ASX:GRE) has achieved a significant milestone at its Whundo copper project in Western Australia, confirming the continuation of mineralisation in Stage 2 drilling. The latest exploration efforts have provided further evidence that the Shelby and Austin mineralised zones extend deeper than previously identified, reinforcing the long-term potential of the West Pilbara site.
Stronger Mineralisation Confirmed
The ongoing drill program, which began in December, encountered temporary delays due to cyclonic weather. Despite these challenges, the results from the drilling have confirmed the continuity of copper and zinc-rich mineralisation at Shelby and Austin. This strengthens the potential of the Whundo project as a key player in the growing demand for copper and zinc resources.
The geological team at GreenTech Metals is focused on further defining these mineralised zones, with an emphasis on down-dip conductor plates that indicate the presence of additional high-value deposits. These findings align with the company’s broader exploration strategy to unlock untapped resources in the region.
Expanding Resource Potential
Current estimates place the Whundo and Ayshia mineral resource at 6.19 million tonnes, grading 1.12% copper and 1.04% zinc. However, the latest drilling results suggest there may be significant extensions beyond the existing resource definition. The company is particularly optimistic about deeper zones at Shelby, Austin, Yannery, and Ayshia, where geophysical data indicates further mineralisation potential.
To validate these findings, GreenTech Metals has dispatched drill samples to a Perth-based laboratory for detailed assay analysis. These results will play a crucial role in determining the next phases of drilling and exploration.
Adapting to Challenges
Executive Director Tom Reddicliffe acknowledged that severe weather conditions required adjustments to the drilling program. However, the team successfully maintained its exploration strategy, ensuring that the planned deep drill hole at Shelby stayed on course.
“These visual results confirm that the two mineralised shoots are continuing down-plunge,” said Reddicliffe. “We remain committed to exploring the deeper sections of these volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits, as they hold strong potential for expanding our project resources.”
Next Steps in Exploration
With assay results pending, GreenTech Metals is preparing for the next phase of its drill program, which will further explore the mineralised prospects at Austin, Shelby, Yannery, and Ayshia. A combination of down-hole electromagnetic surveys and new assay data will guide future drilling efforts, ensuring the company remains on track to unlock the full potential of the Whundo project.
