- IP survey and drilling program planned to unlock further exploration
Solis Minerals Ltd (ASX:SOL) has made significant progress in its exploration of the Cinto Project, located along the Peruvian coast. The company’s recent rock chip and channel sampling have unveiled promising results, indicating widespread copper mineralisation in the area. The Cinto Project has the potential to host a large porphyry-style copper system, offering considerable prospects for future exploration.
The results from channel sampling have shown up to 23.4 meters of mineralisation at 0.88% copper and 16.83 meters at 0.52% copper. These results point to a mineralised system that could span over an impressive 1.75-square-kilometre area. This mineralisation footprint has been further supported by rock geochemistry and a large magnetic geophysical anomaly detected in the region.
To enhance its understanding of the geological and geophysical features of the Cinto Project, Solis Minerals plans to conduct an induced polarisation (IP) survey. The data from this survey will assist the company in identifying the most promising drill targets ahead of a drilling program scheduled for the second half of 2025. The company is working to complete the necessary archaeological surveys and permitting process before the drilling commences.
Solis Minerals’ executive director, Mike Parker, expressed excitement about the Cinto Project's potential, noting that the copper mineralisation styles observed resemble those found at the nearby Toquepala mine, which produces approximately 196,600 tonnes of copper annually. This proximity to a major mining operation further validates the prospective nature of the Cinto Project.
The company’s drone magnetometry geophysics have also correlated well with the identified mineralisation, pointing to potential for scaling the resource and revealing additional areas to explore. In addition to the Cinto Project, Solis Minerals boasts a highly prospective copper portfolio, with advanced targets in its Coastal Belt projects. The company plans to start drilling at its Chancho al Palo and Ilo Este projects later this quarter, depending on permitting.
Solis Minerals remains focused on advancing its copper exploration efforts throughout 2025. The IP survey at Cinto will provide critical insights into the project's potential, and the upcoming drilling programs at both Cinto and other regional targets will help unlock the full extent of the company's promising copper assets.
With its growing portfolio and strong exploration progress, Solis Minerals continues to solidify its position as a key player in the copper exploration sector.
