Olympio Metals (ASX:OLY) has officially commenced its highly anticipated drilling campaign at the Dufay Project in Quebec, Canada. The exploration program aims to uncover the mineral potential of the Dasserat Porphyry Au-Cu and Chevrier Copper Sulphide areas, both situated within the renowned Cadillac Break regional structure.
The company’s drilling initiative will span approximately 1,600 meters, focusing on two priority targets that have demonstrated significant mineralization potential through historical surveys and geophysical studies.
Strategic Targets with Strong Geological Similarities
One of the key focal points of the program is the Dasserat target, where recent ground electromagnetic (EM) surveys confirmed a historical induced polarization (IP) anomaly extending over a 1,200-meter strike. This anomaly closely resembles the geological characteristics of the nearby Galloway Au-Cu porphyry deposit, which holds more than 1.4 million ounces of gold. Despite these strong similarities, the Dasserat target has never been drilled before, making this campaign a pivotal step in unlocking its true potential.
The second target, the Chevrier Copper Sulphide prospect, is another exciting opportunity. Mined briefly in the 1920s, historical rock chip samples from this site recorded copper grades as high as 6.78%. To assess its mineralization further, the current program will include three drill holes of 400 meters each.
Unlocking Untapped Potential
With the initiation of this drilling program, Olympio Metals is moving forward with an aggressive exploration strategy. The geological team has expressed confidence in the Dufay Project’s potential, given its strategic location and favorable geological structures.
According to company leadership, the initial drilling results will provide valuable insights into the mineralization of both target zones. The project’s shallow-depth geophysical indications suggest a strong likelihood of intersecting significant mineralized zones.
The results from this program will serve as a foundation for future exploration efforts and potential resource expansion. With an underexplored porphyry system at Dasserat and high-grade copper indicators at Chevrier, the Dufay Project is emerging as a promising asset in Olympio’s growing portfolio.
As drilling progresses, further updates on the core samples and assay results are expected in the coming months, providing a clearer picture of the project’s economic potential.
