(ASX:JBY) James Bay Minerals has officially started its 2025 drilling program at the Independence Gold Project, marking a pivotal step in its exploration activities. The company's team has moved into position to initiate a 4,000-meter reverse circulation drilling aimed at expanding the known resources and exploring new high-grade gold opportunities.
The focal point of this year's drilling is the Rebel Trend, a promising area spanning 1.3 kilometers that has recently been the subject of intense study due to its high-grade gold potential. Surface rock chip samples from this trend have been exceptionally promising, with nine samples returning grades above 5.0 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold. The highest of these samples showed a remarkable 16.6 g/t Au, suggesting a robust zone of mineralization at surface levels.
Further bolstering confidence in the area, the initial drilling efforts have already yielded significant results. A standout drillhole, AGEI-65, cut through 18.3 meters at 1.0 g/t Au from a depth of 36.6 meters, which included a higher-grade section of 3.1 meters at 2.7 g/t Au. This drilling confirms the extension of gold mineralization by 520 meters up-dip from the previously outlined resources.
James Bay Minerals has brought on Alford Drilling to execute this extensive drilling plan. The Rebel Trend, which dips westward beneath the existing resource, represents a substantial opportunity to grow the project’s gold inventory, which currently stands at a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate of 1.4 million ounces of gold equivalent (AuEq).
Matthew Hayes, the Executive Director of (JBY) James Bay Minerals, shared his enthusiasm about the new drilling campaign: "We are thrilled to commence the 2025 drilling season at the Independence Gold Project, particularly after updating our resource estimate to 1.4 million ounces. The initial drilling at the Rebel Trend has not only expanded our known mineralization but has also uncovered higher grades extending significantly beneath the known high-grade samples on Rebel Peak."
With the drilling now underway, the company is focused on further delineating the high-grade zones along the Rebel Trend and extending the known mineralized structures. This could potentially enhance the project’s overall gold profile and add considerable value as they explore deeper and along the strike of the existing mineralization.
The excitement around the Independence Gold Project continues to build as these new results come to light, promising a bright future for (JBY) James Bay Minerals as they delve deeper into one of their most promising assets.
