Highlights
- Significant copper-gold intersections reported from infill and exploration drilling
- Potential resource expansion at Corner Bay with high-grade discoveries
- Ongoing drilling programs to enhance mineral resource classification
Cygnus Metals (ASX:CY5) has announced strong drilling results from its Chibougamau Copper-Gold Project in Quebec, Canada. The latest results from both infill and exploration drilling have reinforced the project's growth potential, particularly at the Corner Bay deposit and the newly identified Colline target. These findings highlight the project's increasing resource base and its potential for further high-grade discoveries.
Impressive Drill Results at Corner Bay and Colline
At the Corner Bay deposit, infill drilling has returned promising high-grade results, including 7.3 meters at 3.1% CuEq, with a standout section of 3.3 meters at 5.6% CuEq. These results confirm the continuity of mineralization and further strengthen the deposit’s resource estimates.
Exploration drilling at the Colline target has also delivered encouraging outcomes, such as 8.6 meters at 2.3% CuEq, with high-grade zones reaching 2.6 meters at 4.4% CuEq and 2.2 meters at 3.7% CuEq. The Colline target, located within 4 kilometers of the project's central processing facility, shows substantial potential for near-surface resource growth, adding a new layer of exploration success to the project.
Expanding Resource Potential
The current resource estimates for the Corner Bay deposit include 2.7 million tonnes at 2.9% CuEq (Indicated) and 5.9 million tonnes at 3.6% CuEq (Inferred). Notably, drilling beyond the existing resource boundaries has returned intersections grading as high as 9.7% CuEq, indicating significant potential to expand the high-grade resource base.
To further delineate resources and identify new targets, Cygnus Metals has deployed two drilling rigs at the site, alongside advanced downhole electromagnetics (DHEM) technology. These efforts aim to refine mineral resource estimates and unlock additional high-grade zones.
Exploration Strategy and Future Outlook
The company's growth strategy includes an aggressive drilling campaign, targeting both resource expansion and conversion. A major focus is on leveraging historic data, including drill logs that had not been reviewed in over three decades. Modern 3D modeling techniques are now being applied to maximize exploration efficiency and uncover new zones of mineralization.
With continuous drilling efforts and a steady flow of exploration updates expected throughout 2025, Cygnus Metals remains positioned for further discoveries. As exploration progresses, the Chibougamau Project is shaping up as a significant high-grade copper-gold asset with strong future potential.
