Highlights

  • Encouraging Initial Findings: Portable x-ray readings and aircore drilling indicate potential uranium mineralization.
  • Strategic Expansion: Overland project area grows through a farm-in deal with Sheer Gold.
  • Next Steps Confirmed: Follow-up drilling to further investigate promising uranium targets.

Australian Rare Earths (ASX:AR3) has announced plans to proceed with follow-up drilling at its Overland project in South Australia after initial aircore drilling results revealed the potential presence of uranium. The company completed ten aircore holes, hitting the expected rock types, which align with geotechnical expectations of an underground uranium deposit.

Preliminary results from portable handheld X-ray fluorescence (XRF) tools suggested uranium mineralization. However, AR3 emphasized the limitations of these readings, noting that proximity to core samples can skew results and cautioning against relying solely on this data, as per ASX compliance guidelines.

"Today's drilling progress update provides additional proof-of-concept with the first ten holes targeting uranium within this frontier uranium region," said AR3 CEO Travis Beinke.

Expanding the Overland Project

AR3’s efforts are bolstered by a recent agreement with Sheer Gold, a private exploration firm. Through a farm-in option deal, AR3 will invest $200,000 by September 2025 to secure access to additional land, effectively expanding its Overland project footprint. This development provides geotechnical teams with a broader area to identify promising drilling targets, increasing the likelihood of discovering significant uranium deposits.

With this strategic move, AR3 has positioned itself to deepen its exploration activities in a region considered a frontier for uranium resources. The expansion is expected to enhance the project’s overall prospects.

Path Forward

Encouraged by the results of the initial drilling campaign, AR3 has confirmed plans to undertake follow-up drilling. While the aircore drill run did not yield definitive results, it has provided enough positive indications to warrant further investigation.
