Highlights
- New high-grade lithium zones identified at Red Mountain Lithium Project in Nevada.
- Initial drillhole results exceed previously reported lithium grades.
- Assay results from additional drilling are anticipated soon.
Astute Metals (ASX:ASE) has announced the discovery of significant new zones of lithium mineralisation at its Red Mountain Lithium Project in central-eastern Nevada, US. This breakthrough follows the initial assays from its first diamond drilling program at the site.
The inaugural diamond drillhole intersected a notable 25.9 meters of lithium mineralisation with grades of 1,530 parts per million (ppm). Within this interval, standout sections include 13.1 meters at 1,820ppm lithium and 7.3 meters at 1,350ppm lithium. According to the company, these findings represent the highest lithium grades recorded at the project so far.
The Red Mountain Project stands out for its claystone-hosted lithium deposits, a feature that aligns with global demand for critical minerals. Its location in Nevada places it within a well-established infrastructure network, further strengthening the project’s strategic appeal.
Astute Metals, with a market capitalisation of $13.25 million, expressed optimism about these results. The intersections reported in this drilling campaign not only surpass previous grades but also bolster confidence in the project’s growing lithium potential.
The company’s chairman, Tony Leibowitz, described the results as an encouraging milestone. He emphasized that the findings significantly enhance the outlook for Red Mountain’s development. The next phase involves receiving results from additional drillholes and integrating these with geological mapping data to refine future drilling strategies.
The company is currently awaiting assay results from a second diamond drillhole, RMDD002. This hole is designed to extend the lithium mineralisation zone northward, based on data from earlier drillholes RMRC002 and RMRC003. Results from this latest drillhole are expected in the coming weeks.
To further progress the project, digitisation of geological mapping is being finalised. This step will incorporate surface sampling data, allowing for more precise planning of future exploration activities. Astute Metals plans to begin the next round of drilling at Red Mountain early next year, subject to necessary permitting.
Astute Metals (ASE) remains focused on advancing critical minerals exploration in globally recognized jurisdictions. The company’s work at Red Mountain reflects its commitment to developing projects that align with the increasing demand for lithium, a key material for the renewable energy transition.
