Highlights
- High alumina recovery rates reported at Niagara Bauxite Project.
- Maiden Mineral Resource boasts 185 million tonnes at 42.3% alumina content.
- Upcoming scoping study to refine project economics and operational strategies.
Arrow Minerals Limited (ASX:AMD) has recently reported exceptional alumina recovery rates from its Niagara Bauxite Project located in Guinea, showcasing the project's robust potential and efficiency in alumina extraction. Initial metallurgical tests have demonstrated an impressive average alumina recovery of 81% with low temperature processes and 91% when applying high temperature techniques. This variability in recovery highlights the project's adaptability to different processing conditions, with alumina content in high-grade materials ranging between 36% and 47% Al₂O₃, and between 34% and 41% Al₂O₃ in typical resource-grade materials.
The announcement also included an update on the project's mineral resources, revealing a maiden Mineral Resource estimate totaling 185 million tonnes at an average grade of 42.3% Al₂O₃. This resource includes segments of higher-grade bauxite, with 138 million tonnes at 44% Al₂O₃ and 48 million tonnes at an even higher 48.2% Al₂O₃. The consistency of the bauxite's quality, particularly its low reactive silica levels (averaging 1.5% in low temperature digestion and 2.1% in high temperature digestion), makes it highly suitable for processing in a variety of alumina refineries.
These results not only confirm the high quality of the bauxite extracted but also support the feasibility of the ongoing scoping study, due for completion in June 2025. Arrow Minerals aims to establish a low-capital expenditure starter operation which could capitalize on the high-grade segments of the resource to command a price premium for its superior product. This strategic approach aims to maximize cash margins from the outset, positioning the project for sustainable economic success.
David Flanagan, Managing Director of Arrow Minerals, expressed enthusiasm about the results, noting, "These strong results will drive the assumptions in our ongoing scoping study and show the potential to generate a high-quality bauxite product." He emphasized the project's capacity to meet and exceed market requirements with a product that is not only high in quality but also highly marketable. The anticipated completion of the scoping study is expected to attract continued interest from potential customers and stakeholders, paving the way for positive project advancements.
As Arrow Minerals continues to build on these promising developments, the industry and investors alike are keenly watching, anticipating further success stories from the Niagara Bauxite Project.
