Highlights
- Lithium Energy expands footprint with new project in Utah
- Strategic entry into US lithium brine sector
- Positioned near infrastructure and key resource players
Lithium Energy Ltd (ASX:LEL) has made a notable strategic expansion into the North American battery minerals space by securing the White Plains Lithium Brine Project in Utah, United States. Spanning approximately 6,150 hectares, this newly acquired project strengthens the company’s growing portfolio in critical minerals and reinforces its commitment to supporting the global clean energy transition.
Strategic Location and Geological Potential
The White Plains project is situated around 200 kilometres west of Salt Lake City, set within a vast hypersaline salt pan surrounded by mountainous terrain—conditions considered highly favourable for lithium brine accumulation. The area is part of an emerging lithium and potash province, which has attracted increasing attention due to its geological promise.
Through its wholly owned US subsidiary, Lithium Energy has staked 760 mineral claims covering the salt pan. Notably, the region benefits from proximity to key transport and utility infrastructure. It lies just 15 kilometres from Wendover and is directly adjacent to US Highway 80, enabling efficient logistics and operational scalability.
Building on Previous Successes
The acquisition of White Plains builds on Lithium Energy’s experience with its previous success—the Solaroz Lithium Brine Project in Argentina. Following the development and eventual sale of Solaroz, the company is applying the expertise gained there to streamline exploration and development efforts at White Plains.
This new US-based asset complements Lithium Energy’s broader portfolio, which now includes the recently acquired Capricorn Gold-Copper Belt Project in Queensland. Together, these ventures are integral to the company’s forward strategy and form part of its roadmap toward the reinstatement of its shares on the ASX.
Early-Stage Exploration and Future Outlook
The company has acquired a set of historical exploration data covering the White Plains area, which is currently under analysis. Additionally, non-ground disturbing geophysical survey work has been completed, with results expected to inform the next stage of exploration planning.
White Plains represents Lithium Energy’s inaugural lithium asset in North America, aligning well with the US’s growing focus on domestic critical minerals supply chains. The project also strengthens the company’s positioning within the broader ASX landscape, particularly as global interest in ASX dividend stocks and the ASX200 index continues to rise among investors.
As the company prepares for the reinstatement of its shares, this strategic acquisition signals its long-term commitment to becoming a key player in the international lithium supply market, with operations now spanning two continents.
