  • SAE AMS 7057 validates Titomic’s cold spray process for aerospace and defence applications.
  • Standardisation simplifies certification for aerospace components, enhancing efficiency.

Melbourne-based Titomic (ASX:TTT) is driving advancements in cold spray technology, a method where metal or other materials are sprayed at high velocity onto surfaces to form coatings or structures. This innovative approach has garnered significant attention in industries like aerospace and defence for its ability to deliver high-performance and reliable components.

Titomic recently announced a major milestone by collaborating with SAE International, a globally recognised professional association, to establish a new standard for cold spray additive manufacturing. The standard, titled SAE AMS 7057, has been rigorously tested and validated to ensure that components produced using Titomic’s technology meet stringent performance and reliability requirements. This breakthrough aims to simplify integration of cold spray manufacturing into aerospace and defence production processes.

Jim Simpson, President of Titomic USA, emphasised the significance of SAE AMS 7057 compliance. He noted that it strategically positions the company to support several US Government initiatives, including military asset repairs, the development of lightweight aerospace components for NASA, and domestic supply chain resilience under the US Office of Strategic Capital’s objectives.

The standardisation also aims to reduce certification times for aerospace components, a critical advantage in industries with strict regulatory and quality assurance demands. Airbus, which designated Titomic as a preferred supplier for cold spray technology in October 2023, stands to benefit from the enhanced certification processes. This collaboration highlights Titomic's potential to deliver advanced solutions to global aerospace leaders.

By setting a recognised standard, SAE AMS 7057 opens new doors for Titomic in the global aerospace and defence sectors. The streamlined certification process is expected to improve production efficiency and offer clients a reliable path to adopting cold spray technology for various applications.

As the aerospace and defence industries increasingly turn to advanced manufacturing technologies, Titomic’s innovations stand out as a key enabler of efficiency, precision, and reliability. This collaboration with SAE International solidifies the company’s leadership in the field and highlights its commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for challenging industrial requirements.
