Southern Cross Electrical Engineering (ASX:SXE) has secured a total of $125 million in new contracts across Australia, marking a significant milestone for the company. The projects span various sectors, including data centres, commercial, manufacturing, resources, and water infrastructure, highlighting the company’s robust engagement in infrastructure development nationwide.
The contracts, awarded to its subsidiaries, showcase the company’s capabilities in delivering critical electrical and communication solutions across diverse industries.
Major Data Centre Contract for Heyday
Heyday, a subsidiary of Southern Cross Electrical Engineering, has been contracted by Multiplex Constructions to undertake additional work at the NEXTDC S3 Sydney Data Centre in New South Wales. The project involves an electrical design and construction package that includes fitting high-voltage power system modules and installing client-supplied electrical equipment.
This marks Heyday’s sixth major project at the S3 Sydney Data Centre. Work is scheduled to commence in February 2025, with completion anticipated by December 2026.
Barangaroo’s Cultural Hub
New subsidiary MDE Group has been engaged to deliver comprehensive electrical and communication services at The Cutaway cultural events centre in Barangaroo. The contract involves installing critical infrastructure, including a mains switchboard and specialist lighting designed to enhance the multi-functional event space.
Additionally, MDE Group will ensure operational continuity of existing security systems while rebuilding communication rooms to meet new specifications.
Contributions to Infrastructure in Melbourne
Trivantage Manufacturing, another subsidiary, has secured a contract to supply low-voltage equipment for the North East Link project in Melbourne. This project encompasses the production and supply of main switchboards, pump control panels, distribution boards, and UPS systems, manufactured locally at Trivantage’s facility near the project site.
The company will also supply switchboards and transformers for the Western Harbour Tunnel Package 2 in Sydney. Deliveries for this project are scheduled to begin in late 2025.
Western Australia Projects
SCEE Electrical, a subsidiary of Southern Cross Electrical Engineering, has secured two separate projects in Western Australia. These include the Mt Keith West network upgrade in the Goldfields region and infrastructure work for the Alkimos Seawater desalination plant. Both projects involve system installations, upgrades, and testing, with work slated for completion in 2025.
