Highlights

  • Riversgold discovers a 12km zone with rock chip grades reaching 101g/t gold.
  • The historical site at Tambourah now shows significant gold potential alongside lithium.
  • Further sampling and modern exploration techniques are planned to optimize drill targets.

The Tambourah site is unveiling substantial gold potential, thanks to the recent exploration activities conducted by Riversgold (ASX:RGL). The company's findings, stemming from diligent exploration efforts, outline a 12km gold-rich corridor, harboring rock chip grades as high as 101g/t. This promising discovery builds on Tambourah’s historical value, highlighted through past mining endeavors and alluvial operations.

Riversgold’s exploration success emerges during a favorable gold market, driven by geopolitical uncertainties, including US tariff policies, potentially shooting gold prices upwards of US$3000/oz. Originally acquired for its lithium prospects, the tenement’s newfound gold opportunities showcase an emerging dimension, revitalized by the company's investigative efforts. According to David Lenigas, Riversgold’s chairman, "The area has always been highly prospective for gold with gold being discovered in the area in 1891, which resulted in a gold rush occurring in 1894.”

Unlocking Historical Potential with Modern Techniques

The Tambourah project, situated about 160km southeast of Port Hedland, covers four granted tenements totaling 110km. Despite the intense summer conditions that posed significant operational challenges, the company is poised to resume exploration activities, facilitated by an exhaustive review of the compiled gold target data. Modern exploration methodologies promise to unlock Tambourah’s historical potential, largely untapped due to previously limited sub-surface investigations confined to antiquated adits and shafts from over a century ago.

Continuing Focus on Lithium and Emerging Gold Opportunities

In addition to gold exploration, Riversgold initially concentrated on Tambourah’s lithium prospects, identifying nine promising targets through a comprehensive 3070-sample geochemical survey. Access to the site is straightforward via the Great Northern Highway, complemented by additional routes, maximizing accessibility for future exploration endeavors. The dual focus on lithium and emerging gold opportunities underscores Tambourah's mineral-rich potential, priming it as a focal point for Riversgold's exploration ambitions.
