NCM, NST, EVN, PRU: How are ASX gold stocks faring today

Highlights: 

  • The S&P/ASX 200 index is trading in green today, along with all the other eleven sectors under it. 
  • The ASX 200 Materials sector is one of the best performing sectors on the ASX today. 

The S&P/ASX 200 Index (INDEXASX:XJO) began trading on a positive note today. All the 11 sectors under this index were buzzing in the green territory as of 2:14 PM AEST on the ASX today (20 July). 

The S&P/ASX 200 Materials sector (INDEXASX:XMJ) was one of the best performing sectors on the ASX today. Materials was spotted at 14,902.50 points, up 2.52% or 367.00 points at 3:11 PM. 

Here, we have taken into consideration, ASX-listed gold mining giants - Newcrest Mining, Northern Star, Evolution Mining, and Perseus Mining, and have analysed their performance on the ASX today. 

Meanwhile, Gold was priced at US$1710.85 per ounce as of 2:20 PM AEST today. 

Newcrest Mining Limited (ASX:NCM) 

The shares of Newcrest Mining Limited (ASX:NCM) are buzzing in the green territory today. The gold mining stock was up 2.428% at AU$18.98 per share at 3:00 PM AEST on the ASX today (20 July). The sectoral influence might have driven Newcrest's share price performance.

Meanwhile, Newcrest shares have plunged more than 27% on the ASX in a year's time. On Y-T-D basis, the share price fell more than 22% (as of 3:00 PM AEST, 20 July). 

Northern Star Resources Limited (ASX:NST) 

The shares of Northern Star Resources Limited (ASX:NST) garnered investors' attention on the ASX after releasing its FY22 results today. As a result, Norther Star shares have been marking gains on the ASX. The gold producer's share price was up 1.405% to AU$6.855 per share at 1:06 PM AEST on the ASX today (20 July). 

Northern Star Resources, achieving full-year guidance, sold 1.56 million ounces of total gold in FY22. Also, NST spent AU$674 million on growth capital and AU$121 million on exploration in FY22, a bit less than its guidance and has AU$528 million cash in hand as on 30 June 2022.  

Meanwhile, on the ASX, Northern Star has marked a loss of almost 33% on the ASX in a year. On Y-T-D basis, share price fell by more than 27% (as of 1:06 PM AEST, 20 July).

Evolution Mining Limited (ASX:EVN) 

The shares of Evolution Mining Limited (ASX:EVN) were spotted seeking investors' attention on the ASX today. The shares of this gold miner registered a gain of 1.315% to AU$2.31 per share at 1:15 PM AEST on the ASX today (20 July). The company will release its fourth-quarter results of the financial year 2022 (Q4 FY22) on the ASX tomorrow (21 July). 

Evolution Mining's share price has declined almost by 45% on the ASX in a year. Evolution's Y-T-D based share price also dropped nearly by 43% (as of 1:15 PM AEST on the ASX today, 20 July). 

Perseus Mining Limited (ASX:PRU) 

Perseus Mining Limited (ASX:PRU) shares are marking losses on the ASX today. The share price of this mining giant declined 1.646% to AU$1.642 per share at 1:54 PM AEST on the ASX today (20 July). 

The shares of Perseus have performed well on the ASX during last 12 months. The share price of this gold miner has gained over 7% while on Y-T-D basis, share price fell by 0.48% (as of 1:54 PM AEST on the ASX today, 20 July).
