Highlights
- Koonenberry Gold initiates maiden drilling at Sunnyside prospect within the Enmore gold project (ASX:KNB) following promising historical results.
- Plans include drilling 5 to 7 holes totaling approximately 2000 meters, as well as conducting soil sampling to prepare additional targets.
- Enmore shares geological similarities with Larvotto Resources' Hillgrove project; Koonenberry continues diverse exploration with joint ventures such as those with Newmont (ASX:NEM).
Koonenberry Gold (ASX:KNB) has commenced its initial drilling endeavor at the highly promising Sunnyside prospect within its Enmore gold project located in New South Wales. This action aims to further investigate broad zones of gold mineralization previously identified by historical exploration activities. A comprehensive technical assessment has highlighted the orogenic gold potential across the district, casting a spotlight on multiple targets.
The Sunnyside prospect emerges as the prioritized site following historical drilling successes that revealed a striking 174-meter intersection grading 1.83 grams per ton (g/t) gold, inclusive of a higher grade segment of 3 meters at 8.86g/t from 172 meters. These findings underscore the continuing potential of the project as most historical drill holes concluded in mineral-rich zones. Notably, the mineralization at Enmore shows open directions, offering promising prospects for future discoveries.
Targeting New Discoveries
The company has charted out a detailed plan to drill between five and seven holes, encompassing a cumulative length of approximately 2000 meters at the Sunnyside site. In addition, Koonenberry will conduct additional exploratory activities such as soil sampling, aiming at elevating other district targets to a drill-ready stage.
The Enmore project forms part of a broader portfolio acquired in October 2024, granting Koonenberry a significant footing in the Lachlan Fold Belt, a region renowned for its potential enriched with both gold and copper deposits. Among the noteworthy ventures is the coordination with Newmont (ASX:NEM) at the Junee and Breakfast Creek joint ventures, where expansive drilling campaigns have pursued copper-gold porphyry systems. In collaboration with Newmont, efforts at Junee are directed towards revealing potential buried intrusive complexes akin to the geological settings observable at prominent sites like Evolution Mining’s Northparkes and Newmont’s own Cadia mine in Australia.
Strategic Exploration and Prospective Partnerships
Koonenberry holds a 20% stake in the Junee project with a free carry through to commercial production, highlighting its enduring strategic interests. The ongoing cooperation in the exploration initiatives underscores the promising future outlook for copper and gold discoveries within this region.
In addition to the Sunnyside prospect, the regional historical data reveals exciting developments at other sites. Sampling from old underground workings at Lone Hand has returned remarkable assay results, adding further intrigue to the company's exploration narrative. These objective-driven activities elucidate Koonenberry's profound commitment and strategically aligned exploration maneuvers aimed at unlocking substantial mineral wealth within the district.
