Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA), through its venture-scaling arm x15ventures, has named Seattle-based startup Gable as the winner of its annual Xccelerate program. This marks the first time the competition was open to international startups, allowing global innovators to showcase their solutions. Gable, a data change management platform, stood out among nearly 100 applicants, securing a SAFE Note investment and actively exploring potential collaborations with CommBank.
Three other finalists—US-based Cleric, Australian AI fintech Dragonfly Thinking, and Eidiex—are also in discussions regarding future partnerships with (ASX:CBA).
Gable’s Innovative Approach to Data Governance
Founded in 2023 by Daniel Dicker, James Frost, Adrian Kreuziger, and Chad Sanderson, Gable offers a solution that helps organizations maintain high standards of data quality and governance. Its AI-powered platform identifies the origins of data within a company and tracks its movement across systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and protecting sensitive information such as personally identifiable data (PII).
Gable’s technology plays a crucial role in addressing challenges faced by enterprises handling vast amounts of data. By automatically detecting changes in code and monitoring how data flows through various databases, the platform enables businesses to mitigate risks related to compliance and quality.
Chad Sanderson, CEO of Gable, highlighted the startup’s mission, stating that their team experienced significant challenges in data governance while working at a late-stage startup. This led them to develop Gable as a solution for businesses to gain visibility over their data ownership, quality, and compliance measures.
Potential Collaboration with CommBank’s x15ventures
Currently, Gable is working with x15ventures on a project to track code changes across its technology environment. Since x15 operates on a separate tech stack from (ASX:CBA), integrating Gable’s platform could enhance the efficiency and reliability of its data operations.
Kelvin Lim, Chief Technology Officer at x15ventures, emphasized the importance of data clarity in today’s digital landscape. He noted that Gable’s approach could empower engineers to proactively address compliance risks, track changes in critical data, and ensure seamless data governance—ultimately preventing downstream issues.
With this recognition from CommBank’s innovation arm, Gable is set to strengthen its footprint in the Australian market. The startup’s success in the Xccelerate program signals a promising future for AI-driven data management solutions, fostering a more secure and compliant business environment.
