Highlights

  • Barton Gold (BGD) receives R&D grant funding to advance South Australian gold projects.
  • Tolmer discovery identified as a promising gold-mineralized system.
  • Perseverance mine and Tarcoola goldfield show further development potential.

Barton Gold (ASX:BGD) has been granted $380,000 in funding for research and development initiatives. This funding, provided by the South Australian government, highlights the company’s continued efforts at the Tarcoola goldfield, including the promising Tolmer discovery.

Previously, Barton Gold was awarded up to $595,000 under the Accelerated Discovery Initiative to support its exploration work at the historic Tarcoola goldfield. These investments underscore the importance of innovative exploration technologies in uncovering valuable resources.

Technological Advancements in Exploration

The company has utilized advanced techniques such as ground-penetrating radar, seismic surveys, and validation drilling to refine its regional structural models. Work carried out during FY2023 and FY2024 led to a significant breakthrough—a new structural model for the Tarcoola region.

This structural model contributed to identifying the Tolmer gold system. Initial test drilling of this system returned high-grade gold assays, validating the project’s broader potential. The findings, published in November 2023, represent a key milestone in Barton Gold’s exploration efforts.

Tolmer Discovery Highlights

The Tolmer discovery, confirmed through assays conducted in August, revealed a newly interpreted gold-mineralized system consisting of quartz-sulphide veining within broader alteration zones. The assays indicated the potential for continuous high-grade mineralization, subject to further confirmation through additional drilling.

This discovery marked Barton Gold’s first successful test of its updated structural model for the Tarcoola goldfield. It highlights the potential for multiple shallow, high-grade gold zones across the project area.

Progress at Perseverance and Beyond

Barton Gold has also made strides at the Perseverance mine. Between March and July 2024, the company completed approximately 11,250 meters of reverse circulation drilling. This program targeted areas at the Perseverance open-pit mine and other nearby locations, including School, Old Flame, and Warburton.

The results confirmed a JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate of approximately 20,000 ounces of gold at an average grade of 2.0 grams per tonne within the Perseverance mine’s floor. These findings further reinforce the potential of the Tarcoola goldfield.

With continued exploration at Tolmer and other promising zones, Barton Gold aims to accelerate regional development and enhance its position as a key player in South Australian gold mining.
