  • Lance Project aims to produce significant annual uranium output.

Peninsula Energy (ASX:PEN) and its US subsidiary, Strata Energy, have restarted uranium production at the Lance Projects in Wyoming, marking a significant milestone after a five-year hiatus. This development establishes the company as a fully independent uranium producer in North America, showcasing its commitment to meeting the growing demand for nuclear energy.

Production recommenced on December 18, 2024, within selected areas of Mine Unit 1 (MU-1). This restart leverages low-pH in-situ recovery (ISR) technology, a method known for its efficiency and reduced environmental impact. The uranium is initially captured through the Phase 1 satellite plant’s ion exchange system, setting the stage for further advancements.

The initial flow rates and grades are aligning with expectations, and production is set to increase as preconditioning efforts progress. The company plans to advance to Phase 2 construction in mid-January 2025. This phase will include the addition of resin elution and precipitation circuits, with the first batch of dry yellowcake expected by early March 2025.

Once Phase 2 is operational, the Lance Projects will feature a state-of-the-art 5,000 GPM uranium recovery ion-exchange plant. This facility will have the capacity to produce up to 2 million pounds of dry yellowcake annually, contributing significantly to the global uranium supply chain.

The resumption of operations aligns with the increasing global demand for uranium amidst a rising shift towards nuclear energy as a reliable and clean energy source. The Lance Projects represent a key strategic asset for Peninsula Energy as the world continues to prioritize low-carbon energy solutions.

Company leadership has emphasized the significance of this achievement, which reflects years of effort and strategic planning. The restart positions Peninsula Energy to play a vital role in delivering sustainable uranium supplies while supporting a transition to greener energy solutions.

This restart not only demonstrates the company's operational capabilities but also reinforces its commitment to addressing the global need for dependable and environmentally conscious energy sources. With production ramping up, Peninsula Energy aims to establish itself as a prominent uranium producer, contributing to the growing reliance on nuclear power for a sustainable future.
