Highlights:
- Production Start: Otto Energy (ASX:OEL) initiated production at the F5-ST Bypass well within the South Marsh Island 71 lease on November 30.
- Initial Performance: The well averaged 1.2 MMscf/d gas and 4 bbl/d oil during initial constrained flow, later ramping up to 4.1 MMscf/d gas and 17 bbl/d oil with less restriction.
- Operational Milestone: Flowlines and equipment were successfully installed following rig release, enabling production through the SM 71 F platform.
Otto Energy Limited (ASX:OEL) has commenced production at the F5-ST Bypass well, a significant development operated by Byron Energy Inc. within the South Marsh Island 71 (SM 71) lease in the Gulf of Mexico.
The well began producing on November 30 after the Enterprise 264 jack-up rig completed its operations on-site on November 24. Offshore crews subsequently connected the necessary flowlines and infrastructure to allow production through the SM 71 F platform’s processing facilities.
During the first eight days, production averaged 1.2 MMscf/d (million standard cubic feet per day) of gas and 4 barrels of oil per day (bbl/d). These rates were achieved under constrained flow conditions using a 25/64th-inch choke.
On December 12, production was tested under a less constrained setup using a 37/64th-inch choke for four hours. During this period, the well delivered significantly higher rates of 4.1 MMscf/d of gas and 17 bbl/d of oil, indicating strong initial performance potential.
Otto Energy’s acting CEO, Phil Trajanovich, acknowledged the encouraging production results achieved at this early stage. Trajanovich emphasized that the company would closely monitor production rates and pressures to better predict long-term output and analyze the relationship between the F5-ST well and other wells in the SM 71 field.
Further updates on production performance and field developments are anticipated as the well continues to be evaluated.
The commencement of production from the F5-ST Bypass well marks an operational milestone for Otto Energy as it continues to expand its presence in the Gulf of Mexico.
