- Potential for high-purity silica identified.
In an exciting update from the Northern Territory, (ASX:AGE) has reported significant findings from its 2024 exploration efforts in the Alligator Rivers uranium province. The exploration covered extensive ground, including the Nabarlek North and Tin Camp Creek projects, where a combination of drilling and soil sampling was conducted.
The company successfully drilled 22 holes, totaling 3,526 meters, at Nabarlek North, where a new mineralization occurrence dubbed Bully was discovered. This site alone boasted impressive results, with sample highlights including 1 meter at 108 parts per million uranium from a depth of 83 meters. Surface sampling across the two projects revealed several uranium hotspots, with a notable peak at 4,120ppm at the historic Gorrunghar prospect.
Further drilling aimed at extending the known mineralization zones has also identified new potential areas within the company’s project boundaries. These findings are part of a broader strategy to integrate new data with historical records to refine exploration targets for 2025 and beyond.
Greg Hall, CEO of (AGE), emphasized the significance of these results. “Identifying new uranium deposits below surface cover, and 4 kilometers away from any previously known mineralization, marks a major step forward in exploring this challenging area,” he noted. He also referenced the increasing interest in the region, highlighted by a recent announcement from (ASX:BOE), signaling a robust future for mining in this world-class uranium province.
In addition to uranium, (AGE) is investigating the area’s potential for rare earth elements and high-purity silica. Initial tests have been promising, with two samples from distinct vein systems showing up to 97.84% purity. The company plans to bring in specialist consultants to further analyze these findings and explore potential commercial opportunities.
This series of discoveries not only underscores (AGE)'s commitment to expanding its resource base but also highlights the untapped potential of the Northern Territory's mineral wealth. As the company prepares for more detailed exploration in 2025, the mining sector watches closely, anticipating further exciting developments from this dynamic region.
