Highlights

  • Empire Energy begins drilling for its most advanced horizontal shale well at Carpentaria-5H in Northern Territory.
  • C-5H is positioned alongside earlier wells Carpentaria-2H and 3H on the same pad.
  • The project aims to boost gas production rates under the Carpentaria Pilot Project.

Empire Energy (ASX:EEG) has initiated drilling for the Carpentaria-5H (C-5H) well, marking a significant step in the development of its operations in the Beetaloo Basin, Northern Territory, Australia. The well, part of the ASX energy stock's 100% owned permit, serves as a critical component of the Carpentaria Pilot Project.

This effort underscores Empire Energy's commitment to advancing horizontal shale drilling technology. Located on the same well pad as its earlier wells, Carpentaria-2H and Carpentaria-3H, the C-5H well is considered the company’s most advanced horizontal shale drilling venture.

Focus on Enhanced Gas Production

The Carpentaria-5H well is designed to outperform its predecessors, targeting higher gas production rates. This well integrates Empire’s latest learnings and technological improvements from earlier wells in the Beetaloo Basin. By advancing its capabilities, the company aims to maximize the efficiency and output of its pilot development efforts.

The Carpentaria Pilot Project reflects a focused effort on horizontal drilling technologies that are tailored to the unique geological features of the Beetaloo Basin. This basin has become a key location for shale gas exploration, with potential to contribute to the broader energy sector.

Strategic Positioning and Next Steps

Empire Energy's positioning of the Carpentaria-5H well alongside Carpentaria-2H and 3H enables a streamlined operational framework, benefiting from existing infrastructure and site preparation. This approach ensures efficiency in logistics, cost management, and project execution.

With this drilling effort underway, the company is set to gather valuable insights to refine its methods further, optimizing production rates and project development. As the Carpentaria-5H progresses, it will add to the growing body of knowledge critical for horizontal shale operations in the Beetaloo Basin.

Empire Energy continues to push forward in this competitive and promising sector. The results from the Carpentaria-5H well will be closely watched as a benchmark for its ongoing pilot project advancements.
