Highlights

  • Altech Batteries partners with RefLau for CERENERGY® storage solutions.
  • Agreement supports renewable energy goals and stabilises grid power.
  • Partnership focuses on scalable, green energy solutions for Europe.

Altech Batteries (ASX:ATC) has signed its second offtake letter of intent (LOI) with RefLau, a joint venture between Enertrag SE and Energiequelle GmbH. This agreement includes the purchase of 30 MWh of CERENERGY® battery storage capacity in the first year, followed by 32 MWh annually over four subsequent years. The deal highlights Altech’s commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions while meeting the growing demand for renewable energy storage systems.

Under the agreement, Altech will leverage green electricity from regional partners at competitive rates for its planned production facility. This collaboration aligns with Altech’s broader vision of enabling industries to transition to renewable energy.

Growing Interest in Battery Technology

The collaboration reflects increasing interest in scalable and reliable energy storage systems like the CERENERGY® GridPack Battery. The first two years of production are already allocated, with half of the following three years also committed. RefLau’s interest further signifies a growing shift towards renewable energy-driven storage solutions.

Enertrag SE and Energiequelle GmbH, both key players in the renewable energy sector, aim to stabilise renewable power generation through this partnership. Their efforts focus on integrating wind and solar energy with advanced battery storage systems to ensure uninterrupted energy supply and grid stability.

Green Energy for Altech’s Battery Plant

The partnership plans to use green electricity to power Altech’s production plant. Enertrag and Energiequelle also plan to integrate Altech’s CERENERGY® storage systems into their renewable energy projects, stabilising energy outputs and enabling hybrid power solutions.

The collaboration supports the development of a standardised hybrid power model featuring 80MW of solar and wind energy paired with CERENERGY® GridPacks. This system will serve as a benchmark for clean energy projects across Europe. The decentralised energy solution, referred to as "Energy Island," will contribute to grid stability and cost-effective renewable power generation.

European Focus on Renewable Energy

The German government’s commitment to phasing out coal and promoting clean energy solutions underpins this collaboration. The partners are developing the Schwarze Pumpe industrial park as a pilot for renewable energy projects, incorporating innovative storage and hybrid systems.

RefLau, a joint venture backed by Enertrag and Energiequelle, aims to address renewable energy supply gaps by integrating battery systems and green hydrogen technology. Deliveries of CERENERGY® GridPacks are set to begin in late 2026, with preliminary targets for 2027 and beyond.

This partnership not only strengthens Altech’s foothold in the renewable energy sector but also highlights the increasing role of advanced battery storage in stabilising power grids and driving Europe’s green energy transition.
