  • AI-powered CogVoice platform to replace Optus’ legacy voicemail system.
  • Agreement includes platform licensing, maintenance, and potential future enhancements.

Norwood Systems (ASX:NOR) has finalized a significant five-year agreement with Optus, valued at approximately $2.98 million (excluding GST), to overhaul the telecommunications provider’s existing voicemail infrastructure. The deal will see Norwood’s AI-powered CogVoice platform replace Optus’ legacy voicemail system, enhancing its functionality and user experience.

The agreement encompasses multiple facets, including platform licensing, professional services, ongoing support and maintenance, and migration costs. Payments will be milestone-driven, ensuring performance-based implementation. Additionally, there is potential for further premium voicemail services under a future agreement, broadening the scope of collaboration between the two companies.

CogVoice: AI-Powered Voicemail Transformation

The CogVoice platform, built on advanced AI technologies, is designed to provide superior voicemail capabilities. This next-generation system offers seamless integration, low deployment costs, minimal latency, and full 4G/5G compatibility. By implementing this platform, Optus aims to deliver a more efficient and modern voicemail experience for its subscribers.

CogVoice also lays the groundwork for additional AI-driven call termination services and advanced telecommunications solutions. The implementation of AI in voicemail systems is expected to bring significant improvements in message handling, speech recognition, and overall customer engagement.

Strategic Growth and Industry Impact

This contract aligns with Norwood Systems’ long-term strategy of expanding its presence among Tier 1 Communication Service Providers (CSPs). By securing this deal with Optus, the company strengthens its reputation as a key player in the global telecommunications industry.

The agreement follows a successful Proof of Concept conducted in Q4 2023, demonstrating the effectiveness and reliability of the CogVoice platform. It was also facilitated through the Group Master Supply Agreement with Singtel Group, which was announced in October 2023. This partnership underscores Norwood’s increasing influence in the CSP sector and its ability to provide competitive, scalable solutions to major telecom providers.

A New Era for Telecommunications

With the rollout of CogVoice, Optus aims to modernize its voicemail services, ensuring enhanced reliability and customer satisfaction. This transition marks a significant shift towards AI-powered telecommunications solutions that optimize operational efficiency and user experience.

As the project progresses, both companies will focus on delivering a smooth transition and exploring future enhancements that could further revolutionize voicemail services. This deal not only reinforces Norwood Systems’ position in the market but also signals a broader industry trend toward AI-driven innovation in telecom infrastructure.
