
Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Capital Goods and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.99%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 1.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 2.84% or 23.90 points to trade at 864.90 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 1.93% or 9.50 points to end at 502.15 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 1.05% or 38.70 points to 3,707.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which lost 5.14% or 369.65 points to trade at 6,822.00 in late trade. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) declined 3.10% or 319.00 points to end at 9,955.05 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) shed 3.04% or 117.65 points to 3,749.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 0.60% to 2,458.95, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 0.59% to settle at 626.60 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 0.45% to close at 254.95.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 5.17% to 6,815.60 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 3.13% to settle at 3,744.90 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 3.08% to 9,958.75 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1066 to 1059 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1911 rose and 1764 declined, while 89 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.69% to 16.10 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.48% or 9.75 to $2,054.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.18% or 0.14 to hit $76.92 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $81.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 83.12, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 90.01.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 103.31.
