India shares higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.33%

 India shares higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.33%

Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.33% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.44%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 2.72% or 36.10 points to trade at 1,364.10 at the close. LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) added 2.54% or 141.50 points to end at 5,708.70 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was up 2.47% or 20.20 points to 839.35 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which lost 2.25% or 65.00 points to trade at 2,822.15 in late trade. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 1.95% or 8.95 points to end at 449.15 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) shed 1.61% or 16.70 points to 1,022.95.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 2.92% to 1,366.00, LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which was up 2.43% to settle at 5,703.40 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.67% to close at 1,490.60.

The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.95% to 449.15 in late trade, Mahindra&Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 1.48% to settle at 1,668.60 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.15% to 7,309.00 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1254 to 838 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1925 fell and 1693 advanced, while 124 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.60% to 12.47.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.00% or 0.05 to $2,046.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.44% or 1.00 to hit $70.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.57% or 1.16 to trade at $75.21 a barrel.

USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 83.38, while EUR/INR fell 0.02% to 89.94.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 103.67.
