Overview of the suspension test

The independent test was performed for the evaluation of virucidal activity of disinfectant Super Bio Nano Silver (Silaeris AgNP) against a human coronavirus. The test was undertaken between 15 March 2022 and 31 March 2022 at the laboratories of SGS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.

The human coronavirus strain 229E propagated in MRC-5 cells (ATCC CCL-171) was used as the test organism. This strain was taken from the nasal and throat swabs of a man having a mild upper respiratory illness. There are several applications of the strain in respiratory disease research; the strain does not cause hemolysis.

Scientifically, a disinfectant or a disinfectant solution at a particular concentration is said to have virucidal activity when the virus titre decreases by ≥ 4 log10 (inactivation ≥99.99%) within the recommended exposure period.
