Kali Metals (ASX:KM1) has announced a major gold-in-soil anomaly during exploration at its Marble Bar Lithium-Gold Project in Western Australia. The discovery spans a 5.1-kilometre strike length and highlights the area’s significant potential for gold mineralization.
At the Sherman Prospect, surface sampling revealed quartz veins with gold grades reaching up to 4 g/t. These veins measure up to 7 metres in width and extend over a mapped strike length of 120 metres. This follows earlier gold discoveries at the Tiger Prospect, located 2 kilometres west, where sampling identified quartz veins yielding up to 3 g/t gold within a 400-by-400 metre area.
The Marble Bar Project, situated 30 kilometres east of the historic Marble Bar gold mining town, covers 42 square kilometres of the Mount Edgar Granitic Complex and Warrawoona Greenstone Belt. Combining historical data with targeted sampling, Kali Metals has identified strong gold potential across the project area.
According to historical soil sampling data from a previous joint venture with SQM (NYSE:SQM), the anomaly spans multiple zones, underscoring the area’s extensive gold footprint. More than 600 historical soil samples collected during 2021 are now being re-assayed for gold, with results expected by late December or early January.
Managing Director Paul Adams highlighted the significance of these findings, emphasizing that the Sherman Prospect's quartz veins display orogenic characteristics with brecciated textures and alteration features. These discoveries align with prior gold-in-soil anomalies detected during Kalamazoo’s lithium exploration in 2021.
The Marble Bar Project is set for further exploration, as Kali Metals expands its focus to include both gold and lithium within its Pilbara tenements. Completed Aboriginal heritage surveys have cleared the way for future drilling campaigns at both the Sherman and Tiger prospects.
With these advancements, Kali Metals remains confident in the decision to retain full ownership of the Marble Bar Project after renegotiating its joint venture terms with SQM Australia in October 2024. The project is poised for growth as additional reconnaissance and surface sampling target new gold anomalies, solidifying its status as a promising gold and lithium exploration site in Western Australia.
