  • Significant gold intersections revealed at Hopes Hill.
  • Expansion of exploration following removal of tenement constraints.
  • Potential for substantial mineralisation confirmed by recent drilling.

Golden Horse Minerals (ASX:GHM) has reported impressive results from its recent drilling campaign at the Hopes Hill gold project located in Western Australia. This project, part of the expansive Southern Cross greenstone belt, showcases promising results from below the historic open pit mine.

The company, which acquired Hopes Hill in December from Emerald Resources (ASX:EMR), initiated a reverse circulation drilling campaign earlier this year. This effort focuses on the central zone, directly beneath the previously mined open pit. The results from this campaign have been promising, with one notable intersection yielding 43 meters at 4.5 grams per tonne gold within a larger segment of 83 meters averaging 2.5 grams per tonne gold.

Historically, exploration at Hopes Hill was constrained by tenement boundaries that limited drilling access immediately below the pit floor. These restrictions have been lifted, enabling Golden Horse Minerals to undertake a more comprehensive exploration program. The aim is to confirm historical data and assess the continuity of the gold mineralization along the strike.

Recent assays from this area are encouraging, with significant gold finds including 14 meters at 8.2 grams per tonne from 132 meters, 8 meters at 4.9 grams from 107 meters, and 7 meters at 4.0 grams from 120 meters. These results suggest that the mineralization increases in grade and width with depth, highlighting the central zone's potential as a high-grade target.

Nicholas Anderson, the managing director of Golden Horse Minerals, expressed optimism about the project's prospects. According to Anderson, these findings underscore the potential for a substantial body of mineralization beneath the existing shallow pit. The data supports the company’s strategic decision to probe deeper into the mineral-rich zone, which spans an impressive 1.3 kilometers.

The Hopes Hill project encompasses a significant area, including the historic open pit mine, which measures approximately 1,300 meters in length and reaches a depth of about 90 meters. As part of its ongoing exploration strategy, Golden Horse commenced drilling near the open pit in late January, with a planned 22-hole program focusing on both the central and southern zones of mineralization.

Backed by a robust team and strong financial support, Golden Horse Minerals is poised to continue its exploration efforts, aiming to unlock the full potential of Hopes Hill and maintain its competitive edge in the region.
