Shares of VRX Silica Limited (ASX:VRX) surged by 23.25% to AU$0.053 per share in the early hours of 9 January 2025, following an update on the Arrowsmith North Silica Sand Project.
The company announced that the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has published the Assessment Report for the project.
The EPA has recommended the implementation of the project development proposal, subject to certain conditions. VRX has accepted these conditions following consultations with the EPA.
This approval marks a significant step in the environmental approvals process, as it concludes the EPA’s assessment and finalises its recommendation to the Minister for Environment. This development follows VRX's submission of its Response to Submissions (RtS), which the EPA accepted and published in November 2024.
Next Steps
With the publication of the report, a three-week public review period has begun. Upon completion of this period and resolution of any appeals by an independent appeals convenor, the Minister for Environment will make a decision regarding the project's approval.
