Surefire Resources (ASX:SRN) has boosted its leadership team with the appointment of Mr Paul Burton as Managing Director. Mr Burton, who will assume his new role from 6 February 2023, is an experienced natural resources executive, CEO and Managing Director. He has nearly 30 years of experience in exploration and mining across various commodities. 

Triggered by the update, SRN shares gained more than 7% to trade at AU$0.015 in the morning trade on 2 February 2023.

Overview of Mr Burton’s profile

Mr Burton is a geologist and graduate from McGill University, Canada and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Directors and AusIMM.

He was most recently at TNG Ltd, now known as TiVan Ltd. At TiVan, he played a crucial role in resource discoveries and establishing a portfolio of quality exploration assets. He was instrumental in driving the company to a market capital value of over AU$100 million and developing its critical mineral - vanadium and battery mineral alternative energy strategies.

The list of companies he has worked at includes Anglo American, De Beers Ltd, Normandy Mining Ltd and Minotaur Exploration Ltd. During his long tenure, he has been engaged in managing successful corporate activities, mineral exploration, feasibility, FEED, and research study programs. Moreover, he has also been involved in training and mentoring staff.

Mr Burton has worked throughout Australia and internationally. SRN highlights him as one of the most experienced professionals in critical mineral projects, primarily vanadium and its products and battery minerals.

56% jump in vanadium resource at Victory Bore

Recently, Surefire announced initial results from the ongoing mineral resource estimation of its Victory Bore vanadium project, indicating a 56% increase in tonnage from the previous 2012 estimate. The initial resource estimate now stands at 235 million tonnes (Mt) at 0.39% V2O5. To know more, read here
