In 2022, Cluey’s 2,500 tutors supported over 33,000 students, making Cluey Australia’s largest service provider in online school tutoring, highlights the company. Cluey (ASX:CLU) – is run by its able education team comprising heads for each discipline, including Mathematics, English and the Sciences. While the education team, overseen by the Chief Learning Officer, works as the face of Cluey, the Board of Directors and management team work behind the scenes.
Over the past few years of operations, the company has recorded stellar growth in the number of new student enrolments and has expanded into new markets in New Zealand and the UK. A notable acquisition by Cluey was Code Camp - an after-school and holiday camp service provider. In this article, we briefly examine Cluey’s Board and management team.
Board of Directors
Robert Gavshon, Chairman and Non-Executive Director
A former partner at a prestigious law firm, Mr. Gavshon has held positions as a Director in various listed entities, including NASDAQ-listed Barbeques Galore Ltd and ASX-listed Rebel Sport. In addition, he has served on the boards of successful equity ventures that included The Optical Company and Oporto. Mr. Gavshon has worked in the education technology (Edtech) sector for over two decades. He was a shareholder in and Chairman of the Think Education Group.
Mark Rohald, Executive Deputy Chairman
Mr. Rohald has over three decades of experience in education and training across Europe, Australia, Africa and North America. He also co-founded and served as a Director of Educor, which was one of the largest private education globally. In addition, Open Colleges Group, co-founded by Mr. Rohald in 2010, became Australia’s largest private player in online learning.
Professor Ian Young, Non-Executive Director
The former Chief Executive (Vice‑Chancellor) of Canberra-based Australian National University and Melbourne-based Swinburne University of Technology, he has also held board positions at the prestigious Australian Research Council and IDP Education.
Michael Stibbard, Non-Executive Director
An accounting profession veteran, Mr. Stibbard was a consulting partner with Horwath NSW Pty Limited Chartered Accountants (later merged with Deloitte) for over two decades, including six years as the managing partner. He has more than four decades of experience in the accounting profession.
Louise McElvogue, Non-Executive Director
A technology sector veteran, Ms. McElvogue brings over 25 years of experience in media, technology and other disciplines such as cybersecurity and education. She is a non-executive director of Healthdirect, the national health advice service in Australia, as well as the acting President of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (NSW Council). In addition, she was a professor at UTS Business School and the Chair of the UTS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Advisory Board.

Cluey’s Independent Education Advisory Board
Professor Gary Falloon chairs the Advisory Board. Professor Falloon is the Associate Dean International and Professor at Macquarie University. Other members of the Advisory Board include Andrew Pierpoint (President, Australian Secondary Principals’ Association), Professor Chris Tisdell (Associate Dean, University of NSW), and Professor Rosalind Dixon (Professor of Law at UNSW).
Management team
Joint CEOs lead the management team - Matteo Trinca who focuses on customer-related areas and strategic marketing, and Trevor McDougall who focuses on operations and technology.
Matteo Trinca has an experience of over 15 years in in the gaming and education sectors, delivering customer intelligence and strategic marketing expertise. During his over a decade experience, Trevor McDougall has held senior leadership roles in the areas of operations and scaling technology.
Greg Fordred, a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Secretary, is Cluey’s CFO and Company Secretary. He has nearly 17 years of experience in executive and senior finance positions. During his work tenure, he has worked with companies from the education and financial services sectors. He has worked with organisations like Think Education Group, Open Colleges, and Kaplan Australia.
Dr. Selina Samuels, a former university lecturer at the University of London and UNSW, serves as the Chief Learning Officer. She is catering to the education sector for than 25 years. Few of her senior education leadership roles include Head of English at Ascham School in Sydney and university lecturer at the University of London and UNSW.
Vinne Schifferstein Vidal and Hayley Markham are the general managers of Cluey Learning and Code Camp, respectively. Vidal has 15 years of experience in the publishing, education and marketing industries, while Markham has been instrumental in making Code Camp one of Australia's fastest growing social impact businesses.
