Highlights

  • Black Canyon (ASX:BCA) has discovered thick, continuous higher-grade zones of manganese-enriched shale in the latest drilling results
  • The assay results are from drilling along 2,000m of strike between the FB3 and LR1 deposits at the Flanagan Bore project
  • As per BCA, the latest drill results validate the possibility of a substantial tonnage expansion of the present MRE at the Flanagan Bore project

Western Australia-focused manganese explorer Black Canyon Ltd (ASX:BCA) recently declared results from the recent reverse circulation (RC) drill program at the Flanagan Bore Manganese project.

Through this systematic drilling, BCA covered a 2,000m long target located at Flanagan Bore. This target is located between the FB3 and LR1 deposits, where significant zones of manganese mineralisation have been discovered.

The Flanagan Bore project is part of BCA’s Carawine joint venture (JV) and remains subject to a farm-in and JV agreement with Carawine Resources Ltd (ASX:CWX).

All assay results received from LR1 and FB3 deposits

The drilling program comprised a total of 181 holes for 7,534m of RC drilling. The drilling was completed in May/June 2022. The overall drill spacing has been reduced to a 100mx100m grid pattern at FB3 and LR1.

BCA has received all the assay results from the LR1 and FB3 deposits and compiled the same.

BCA has delineated manganese-enriched shale from the surface along the L1 to TF1 trend, and manganese-enriched beds are found to be shallowly dipping and remained open to the southeast, similar to FB3 and LR1.

BCA believes that the continuity of manganese-enriched mineralisation will expand the MRE from FB3 along strike to the southwest. Moreover, thicker intervals of mineralisation were encountered through deeper drilling, which was conducted as part of this infill phase.

This indicates a further potential to increase the FB3 MRE and enhance global mineral resources at Flanagan Bore. The key results are as follows:

Drill results for FB2 and FB6

Over the FB2 anomaly, BCA completed a total of eight holes on a single drill line. A range of northeast-trending folds exposing and repeating the manganese-enriched shales at the surface was highlighted through the initial mapping conducted over the anomaly. Key results include the following:

  • 18m @ 11.9% Mn from surface (FBR295)
  • 16m @ 12.6% Mn from surface (FBRC298)
  • 28m @ 10.8% Mn from 2m (FBRC3)

At the FB6 anomaly, the company drilled a total of three holes, which were drilled on a single line and indicated similar thickness and grade ranges to FB5. Moreover, the holes further confirmed the substantial potential of significant manganese mineralisation occurring between FB5 and FB6.

Key results include the following:

  • 26m @ 9.4% Mn from 3m (FBRC347)
  • 28m @ 10.8% Mn from 2m (FBRC348)

BCA is encouraged by the thickness, grade and outcropping nature of mineralisation at FB2. Moreover, the company will be planning additional drilling in future programs along the strike to the southwest.

BCA shares were trading at AU$0.230 midday on 28 October 2022.
