Australian mining company Ark Mines Limited (ASX: AHK) has acquired a specialised augur rig to undertake its drill campaign at the highly prospective Sandy Mitchell Rare Earths Project in North Queensland. The rig has been modified on purpose for drilling sands. Also, the rig has been custom-mounted on a 4WD Toyota Landcruiser for swift movement between drill sites.
The management prioritised the procurement of an augur rig after successful completion of Phase 1, 144-hole aircore drill campaign. The preliminary assay results from the drill program showed rare earth (REE) and heavy mineral (HM) mineralisation in every hole.
The company will now start the next phase of drilling with the hydraulic augur rig.
