The Australian scheduled airline and charter aircraft operator Northern Territory Air Services (NTAS) has signed a letter of intent for 20 all-electric Alice commuter aircraft, reported the all-electric aircraft manufacturing company Eviation Aircraft.
The Alice is driving the airline industry towards a carbon-free, cost-effective, and convenient electric aviation experience. All these attributes will come together to empower NTAS to provide sustainable service to its customers in remote places of Australia by providing point-to-point air transfers.
Ian Scheyer, Chief Executive Officer, NTAS, said:
NTAS’ CEO also said that the Alice aircraft had been designed for flights ranging from 150 to 250 miles, which is suitable for NTAS’ flight parameters. He also mentioned that electric aviation would enable customers to enjoy a cost-effective and convenient flight experience across Australia.
The Alice commuter aircraft of Eviation is the first flight-proved all-electric aircraft of its scale. The aircraft can carry nine passengers or 2,600 lbs of load in a cargo configuration. The Alice has been built from a clean-sheet design around magniX’s electric propulsion system and will produce zero carbon emissions.
However, the financial terms related to the transaction have not been revealed yet.
