CSIRO's Ready To Launch Another Innovation Of $3.5 Million After Hovermap

Emesent after the launch of its first drone hovermap, is ready to launch another innovation by the CSIRO in the month of December. This innovation requires $3.5 million. In those areas where the GPS is not reliable, Hovermap technology proves beneficial to collect underground data. These areas include ore passes in mines. It took around 10 years by CSIRO's robotics and autonomous systems group to finally execute the innovation.

The drone has the power to create 3D maps, record gas readings and take images and videos without being controlled by any human. Also, these drones contain lasers which are very powerful and have potential to detect the environment in its vicinity. The drone is highly approachable in those area which is beyond the approach of human being and can capture data within 10-15 minutes which human being takes hours to collect data.Â

As per Dr. Hrabar, generally the drones are restricted in those area where there is no visibility to GPS as GPS is visible in the open sky. However, there are many applications which works where there is no GPS like underground mining.

He also states that after the trial of drones without GPS which are also able to create maps have attracted many mining industries straight away. The company is performing paid trials in countries like Australia, Japan, China and Canada across 20 enterprises. By the end of this year, the company is ready to launch an early adopter program specifically for the mining industries. Also, the company was also able to generate revenues through these trials. Based on these trials only companies like Telstra will be getting an early access to the drones. In order to examine the cellphone tower, Telstra will be using these drones.

Eminent will be considered as the owner of the intellectual property of the software where CSIRO taking equity share in the business. The company at present has limited possible products and is looking for the right product that needs to be launched which fits best in the market and also trying to understand those customers they need to pitch in. The innovation is such that it would also not disturb the existing eco system. Emesent is company’s second deal based on the Data61. Data61 is considered to have really strong capabilities area.

The company also feels that under the under the leadership of Adrian Turner and control of Larry Marshall on CSIRO will help the company to step ahead in the correct direction and also identify a number of areas where they can have opportunities. At present the main target of the company is to expand into data analytics, answer all possible queries related to mineral content, with high efficiency, and also look for further improvements in the outcome.
