Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced to reopen the border early for fully vaccinated travellers coming from the COVID-19 hotspots.

Fully vaccinated travellers from the hotspots like Greater Adelaide, ACT, parts of norther Territory, Victoria, and New South Wales will enter Queensland through air and road.

The borders will open from 13 December 2021, at 1:00 am, four days early from the originally planned date.

But why borders are opened before the scheduled date? Let's dive deep into the reasons.

Health authorities of Queensland are anticipating reaching the targeted 80% double-vaccination mark in the age group above 16 this week, therefore opening borders before 17 December.

Following guidelines should be considered by the people travelling to Queensland.

  • Negative COVID-19 test report conducted within 72 hours is a must for people travelling to QLD.
  • Travellers with negative reports won't be quarantined.
  • Travellers without reports will be quarantined for 14 days.
  • Travellers from domestic hotspots must undergo a COVID-19 test within five days of arrival, or a fine will be imposed.
  • The test will be conducted on arrival.
  • People residing on the border of NSW and QLD can cross the borders by obtaining a border pass.

BOTTOM LINE

Queensland will be stringent regarding the COVID-19 guidelines, and any non-compliance will result in heavy penalties. However, the liberty to move in QLD is extended as it is the time of Christmas and a good time to unite with family.
