Highlights
- Discovery of high-grade spodumene at the newly acquired Renaldinho licence with samples showing up to 3.7% Li2O.
- Renaldinho hosts numerous historical gemstone workings, now identified as lithium-rich pegmatites.
- Preparations for an inaugural drilling program set for Q2 2025 are advancing rapidly.
Perpetual Resources (ASX:PEC) has recently highlighted the potential of its new Renaldinho licence in Brazil, confirming the presence of high-grade spodumene mineralisation. This new acquisition is part of strategic efforts to build a robust pipeline of advanced and early-stage lithium projects, positioning the company as a promising ASX mining stock.
Strategic Acquisitions and Field Discoveries
The Renaldinho licence, acquired in February 2025, revealed a 2.1-kilometer corridor of lithium-bearing spodumene. During the initial sampling, seven out of thirty samples exhibited greater than 1% lithium oxide, with one sample recording a remarkable 3.7% Li2O. The licence is part of a trio, expanding PEC's footprint significantly in a region recognized for its extensive lithium production.
Historically, Renaldinho focused on gemstones like beryl, elbaite, and indicolite. Current findings confirm spodumene-rich pegmatites, reinforcing the area's lithium prospectivity.
Regional Positioning and Exploration Initiatives
The strategic location of PEC’s licences, within 5 kilometers of existing major lithium operations, underscores the Araçuaí District's Tier-1 potential. Principal areas, such as Sigma’s Xuxa and CBL’s Coacheria mines, highlight the district's prolific nature.
Beyond Renaldinho, a fourth spodumene trend has been identified at the Isabella project, supported by recent fieldwork discovering Trend 4. These developments suggest a structured system of parallel-stacked pegmatites, with Trend 1 previously yielding up to 6.8% Li2O.
Ongoing Efforts and Future Prospects
An accelerated exploration program led by Perpetual Resources aims to delineate and prioritize new drilling targets. The focus is set on comprehensively assessing the Igrejinah project, known for substantial spodumene outcrops.
Preparations are advancing for a Q2 2025 drilling program, with the finalization of drilling contractors marking a step towards verifying the significant spodumene mineralisation already identified across PEC's licences.
