Highlights:
Exploration Initiative: New Age Exploration (ASX:NAE) has launched a drilling campaign at the Lammerlaw project in New Zealand, focusing on mineralized zones associated with gold, arsenic, antimony, and tungsten.
Geological Features: The project encompasses mineralized structures identified through geophysical data and historical mining records, with soil sampling confirming anomalies beneath a loess cover.
Development Strategy: Results from the initial drilling phase will shape subsequent exploration activities, contributing to a deeper understanding of the resource base.
New Age Exploration (ASX:NAE) has initiated a drilling program at the Lammerlaw project in Otago, New Zealand. The campaign will unfold in two phases, with the first focusing on a selection of high-priority targets. The second phase will be informed by the results of the initial phase, allowing for a refined exploration approach. The program aims to assess mineralized structures associated with gold, arsenic, antimony, and tungsten mineralization.
The Lammerlaw project area features mineralized trends extending west-northwest, closely aligned with foliation patterns in schist formations. These zones correlate with geophysical anomalies and historical mining records. Covering an extensive area, the project includes soil anomalies discovered through detailed sampling efforts. The presence of loess, a fine windblown silt layer ranging in depth, conceals mineralization, making traditional surface sampling ineffective. Hand-auger soil sampling has been employed to penetrate the loess and access underlying geochemical signatures. Additionally, a thin weathered schist layer within the area indicates minimal supergene mineralization development.
Historical records highlight the significance of the Lammerlaw project. The exploration permit, secured by New Age Exploration in late 2019, spans a substantial land area within the Lammerlaw Ranges. The geological setting shares similarities with the Macraes gold mine, which has operated for decades and has yielded a considerable gold output. Among the historically significant locations within the permit area is the Bella Lode, where mining activities in the late nineteenth century produced gold at a notable grade. Additionally, previous investigations into antimony mineralization have revealed high-grade rock chip samples containing significant antimony content.
This drilling program represents an important phase in the development of the Lammerlaw project. According to the company, the program aligns with broader objectives to enhance geological understanding and define resource characteristics. The information obtained from the drilling will be integrated with existing geological data to refine exploration strategies moving forward.
New Age Exploration remains focused on systematically evaluating the outcomes of the drilling campaign. The insights gained from this phase will contribute to ongoing exploration efforts and broader project assessment. The company continues to collaborate with key stakeholders as exploration activities progress at the Lammerlaw project.
