Highlights

  • Historical drill core analysis at Thomson project reveals gold up to 6.73g/t, silver at 497g/t, and niobium at 0.13g/t.

  • Previously unexamined drill core from a past program indicates the presence of intrusion-related gold systems.

  • Ongoing drilling efforts focus on multiple unexplored geophysical targets across the project.

Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM) has announced notable results from historical diamond drill core samples at the Thomson project in New South Wales. The samples, which had remained unexamined in storage since a past drilling campaign, returned assays showing 6.73g/t gold, 497g/t silver, and 0.13g/t niobium. These findings indicate the presence of mineralized systems within the project area that had not been previously documented.

Intrusion-Related Gold System Characteristics

Geological assessments suggest that the Thomson project shares key characteristics with other large-scale intrusion-related gold and copper deposits. Comparable systems in Western Australia, such as Winu, Havieron, and Hemi, have demonstrated substantial mineral resources. The Cut-A anomaly within the Thomson project aligns with geological models observed in these known mineralized regions.

Drilling Campaign Focuses on High-Priority Targets

Exploration activities are concentrated on key areas within the Thomson project, including the F4 and Cut-B targets. These locations have been identified through geophysical surveys and prior core analysis. Numerous additional geophysical targets across the project area remain unexplored, offering scope for further mineralization discoveries. The examination of historical drill core has contributed to refining the ongoing drilling approach.

Findings Comparable to Early-Stage Discoveries

Initial assay results from the unsampled drill core reflect early-stage mineralization patterns observed in established deposits. The data includes a mineralized interval spanning 377 meters at 0.1g/t gold, with a more concentrated section measuring 41 meters at 0.4g/t gold. These findings support further assessment of the project's potential scale and mineralization continuity.

Geophysical Insights Guide Exploration Strategy

Geophysical data indicates alignment between key anomalies, reinforcing the exploration rationale for the Thomson project. The Cut-A, F4, and Cut-B targets exhibit geological signatures consistent with mineralized systems found in comparable regions. Additional assay results from the ongoing exploration program are expected to provide further clarity on the extent of mineralization within the project area.
