Elevate Uranium (ASX:EL8) defines extensive uranium mineralisation at Namib IV within the Koppies Project in Namibia
Broad-spaced drilling across Namib IV reveals calcrete-hosted uranium associated with interpreted palaeochannels
Company plans infill drilling to examine higher grade zones for a maiden resource estimate
Elevate Uranium Ltd (ASX:EL8), a mineral exploration company listed on the ASX 200 index and focused on uranium, continues to expand its exploration footprint across Namibia. The company has delineated a large envelope of uranium mineralisation at the Namib IV tenement, part of the Koppies Project, following a broad-spaced drilling program.
The envelope measures several kilometres across, with conceptual targets identified in the northwestern, southwestern, and southeastern sections of the tenement. These targets were tested in a recent campaign that involved both drilling and downhole gamma probing.
Drilling Identifies Calcrete-Hosted Uranium
The program involved over one hundred drillholes spaced between a few hundred metres apart on each line, and approximately a few hundred metres between holes. The drilling was conducted across multiple areas where palaeochannel systems were interpreted to exist. These palaeochannels are known to host calcrete-style uranium mineralisation, a common occurrence in the region.
Drill results confirmed uranium presence in areas underlain by weathered granite and carbonate-veined schist. Contrary to initial expectations, these basement rocks do not appear to be significantly weathered beneath the palaeochannels, suggesting a more complex geological setting than initially understood.
New Exploration Avenues Beyond Traditional Targets
Elevate Uranium’s Managing Director, Murray Hill, noted that recent programs have expanded the company’s exploration approach beyond conventional palaeochannel-hosted targets. The identification of uranium mineralisation within basement lithologies at Namib IV, as well as earlier discoveries at Koppies and Hirabeb, opens up new geological domains for further investigation.
These findings may influence how the company explores and prioritises future drill targets, with a broader focus now extending into previously underexplored basement terrains.
Focus Shifts to Infill Drilling and Resource Definition
With broad-spaced drilling successfully defining the mineralised footprint, the company is preparing to initiate an infill drill program. This next phase will aim to better delineate higher-grade mineralisation zones and provide the geological data necessary for a maiden resource estimate.
The shift from reconnaissance-style exploration to resource definition marks a strategic step toward more advanced project development. Understanding uranium source and controls on mineralisation will also be a key objective for the upcoming activities.
Strategic Timing Amid Global Demand
The renewed interest in nuclear energy worldwide, driven by clean energy goals, has brought uranium into greater focus. Governments are supporting nuclear energy infrastructure to assist with the global transition towards net-zero emissions.
Elevate Uranium's Namibian portfolio, alongside its Australian assets, places it in a strategic position to progress its projects as the sector draws global attention.
Participation in Industry Events
Elevate Uranium will participate in the upcoming Noosa Mining Investor Conference scheduled for late July at the Peppers Noosa Resort. The event provides a platform for listed resource companies to present project updates and engage with the broader mining community.
