What is New Regenerative Shock Absorber Technology and how significant it is for Guident?

Regenerative Shock Absorber Technology is basically meant to convert the wasted energy in a vehicle's shock absorber into an alternative energy source. This technology has received considerable attention from the electrical vehicles (EVs) in last some time.

The US patent # 8,941,251, provides high energy density for manufacturing electromagnetic regenerative shock absorbers. The process helps in recovering a vehicle's vibrational energy, which is otherwise lost due to road irregularities, vehicle accelerations and braking.

Electric vehicle manufacturers have since long been seeking ways to cost-effectively increase the driving range of their vehicles. The patent acquisition is significant for Guident Ltd as it is into commercialising new technology to enhance the safety, efficiency, and utility of electric-autonomous vehicles.

There is a big, and growing market for the EVs and the mechanism to recapture a vehicle’s kinetic energy through regenerative shock absorbers could contribute to this objective and thus move the world toward increasingly energy-efficient mobility.

Market and the growth opportunity for Guident Ltd.

The autonomous vehicle which uses AI (artificial intelligence) software, LiDAR (light detection & ranging), and RADAR sensing technology was having a global market size valued at $54.23 billion in 2019 and is projected to reach the size of $556 billion by 2026 with a CAGR of 39 per cent.

There has been a surge in demand for contactless delivery during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially food. Though there has been no evidence of the disease spreading through food, however, the virus can spread through people touch, so the contactless delivery is being preferred. The company is also of the view that this surge in demand will speed up the unveiling of land-based delivery drones for essentials like food and medicines to improve their availability and cut the costs of these deliveries.

Guident which is into the development of world-class software solutions for improving the safety, control and benefit of AVs, soon after the acquisition of the exclusive rights has moved ahead to produce regenerative shock absorbers for testing by major automotive companies. The technology is going to prove a major milestone for the EVs to be more viable by not only improving their driving range but making the ride comfortable.

Guident Ltd is wholly owned by Tekcapital Plc (LON: TEK), a public limited company registered in England and Wales.
