Today, the S&P/ASX 200 Index closed lower by 26.9 points at 6766.8. Concurrently, the S&P/ASX 200 VIX Index was up by 0.77% to close at 10.9.

In S&P/ASX 200, Communication Services & Utilities marked the most losses today with 0.95% & 1.2% lower, respectively.

In Utilities, AusNet Limited (ASX: AST) has declared half-year numbers, shares ended 4.35% lower. AGL Energy Limited (ASX: AGL), Spark Infrastructure Group (ASX: SKI), and APA Group (ASX: APA) also ended lower.

In Communication Services, Telstra Corporation Limited (ASX: TLS), TPG Telecom Limited (ASX: TPM), and Speedcast International Limited (ASX: SDA) were lower by 1.39%, 1.33% and 1.64%, respectively.

Some of the media and entertainment industry names in Communication services were also tracking lower with oOh! Media Limited (ASX: OML) down 1.74%, Southern Cross Media Group Limited (ASX: SXL) down 1.65% and REA Group Ltd (ASX: REA) down 0.49%.
