Medibank Private Limited, trading as ‘ahm Health Insurance’ (Medibank), was ordered by the Federal Court to pay A$5 million as penalties for making misleading representation to the members pertaining to the benefits provided by their ahm health insurance policies, in breach of Australian Consumer Law.
Medibank acknowledged this breach happened because it failed to involve 186 joint investigation and reconstruction services in its claiming system for the ahm “lite” policy between February 2013 and July 2018. Also, it did not include 26 such services in its system for the “boost” policy between February 2017 and July 2018.
