Amazon Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) is apparently set to shell out $1.45 billion for Aussie-founded self-driving car startup Zoox, subsequent to rumors that were circulating earlier this month.

The acquisition would be the most significant investment of Amazon so far in self-driving car technology, and also one of its biggest purchases ever.

In 2012 Australian Tim Kentley-Klay and American Jesse Levinson founded Zoox, and it was operated in relative stealth form till its huge Series B round in 2018.
