Burna Boy made history at the Recording Academy, becoming the first-ever Afrobeats artist to perform at the annual Grammy Awards. The Nigerian musician, 32, collaborated with Brandy and 21 Savage during the 2024 Grammy Awards on Sunday. The trio performed "Sittin' on Top of the World," a track by Burna Boy featuring 21 Savage, which samples Brandy's 1998 hit "Top of the World."
Burna Boy commenced the performance in a red jacket with silver jewels and matching light blue jeans, singing his song "On Form" alongside dancers in traditional Nigerian clothing. He followed with his hit "City Boys," showcasing vibrant stage colors and enthusiastic dancing.

Brandy, wearing an all-black outfit with red knee-high boots, appeared from the top of a set of stairs, singing part of her hit "Top of the World." 21 Savage, in an all-red leather jacket and pants, performed his verse on Burna Boy's "Sittin' on Top of the World."
This performance marked a significant moment for Burna Boy, 21 Savage's first time rapping on the Grammy stage, and Brandy's return after several years. In 2019, 21 Savage was unable to perform due to his arrest by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Brandy had previously performed at the Grammys in 1997 for "Sittin' Up In My Room."
Burna Boy and 21 Savage were nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance, but Lil Durk and J. Cole's "All My Life" secured the award. Burna Boy also received a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for "City Boys."
21 Savage earned multiple nominations, including Best Melodic Rap Performance for his collaboration with Drake, "Her Loss." His other nominations were for Best Rap Performance ("Rich Flex"), Best Rap Song ("Rich Flex"), and Best Rap Album ("Her Loss").
Brandy, already a Grammy winner, won Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1999 for "The Boy Is Mine" with Monica.
