Suspect's Arrest in Alleged Bomb Plot on NYSE

Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, a Florida resident, was arrested in a disturbing case involving an alleged plan to bomb the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Arrested on November 20, Yener reportedly aimed to execute an explosive attack targeting a building in New York City. According to court records, the FBI uncovered this plan in collaboration with undercover agents posing as accomplices, leading to Yener's capture.

Covert FBI Operation Uncovers Disturbing Details

Yener allegedly approached undercover agents, attempting to organize and plan the attack. The agents documented his requests for acquiring explosive materials, conducting surveillance of the NYSE, and photographing the building to pinpoint an ideal detonation site. Planning to disguise himself while placing the device, Yener even recorded a message intended for the media, aiming to highlight his motives behind the attack.

Court records reveal that Yener envisioned a devastating impact, comparing it to a "small nuke," and believed the explosion would result in extensive damage both inside and outside the building. His statements underscored an intent to cause severe destruction and loss of life, heightening the urgency of FBI intervention.

Investigation and Capture of the Suspect

The FBI began observing Yener in early 2024 after discovering bomb-making materials stored in a Coral Springs storage unit, which included electronic circuit boards, sketches, and timer-equipped watches. During an interview, Yener disclosed past intentions to join ISIS but ultimately refrained, citing doubts about the group’s success.

Under the guise of militia group members, FBI agents engaged in multiple conversations with Yener, during which he expressed his goal to "reset" the U.S. government. He shared detailed plans, including selecting civilian targets to maximize or minimize casualties depending on timing. For instance, he suggested targeting a Walmart at night to avoid crowded conditions.

Through consistent undercover engagement, the FBI was able to disrupt this alleged plot and arrest Yener, now facing federal charges in connection to his planned actions. His case underscores the ongoing vigilance required in preventing violent attacks and ensuring public safety.
