Leadership Change at Cornish Metals: Don Turvey to Become CEO

Cornish Metals Inc. (LSE:CUSN) has announced the appointment of Don Turvey as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director of the Company, effective September 1, 2024, pending UK work visa approval. Don Turvey will relocate from South Africa to Cornwall, where he will be based.

Background and Experience of Don Turvey

Don Turvey brings over 40 years of experience in the mining sector to his new role. His background includes senior management positions in production, project execution, business development, and minerals resource management. Since 2008, Turvey has served as CEO for various private, ASX, and AIM-listed mining companies, where he successfully funded and brought new projects and historic mines into production. His experience also includes leading multiple mergers and acquisitions. Before this, Turvey spent over two decades at BHP Billiton, holding roles such as General Manager and Vice President of Project Development.

Statement from Patrick Anderson

Patrick Anderson, Chair of Cornish Metals, welcomed Don Turvey to the role, stating that Turvey’s extensive experience in commercial and operational roles will guide Cornish Metals as it progresses with the South Crofty project. Anderson also expressed appreciation for Ken Armstrong's contributions as Interim CEO during the recent transitional period.

Don Turvey expressed enthusiasm about joining Cornish Metals and working with the project team to advance the South Crofty project towards production. He highlighted his commitment to contributing to the company’s vision of revitalizing tin mining in Cornwall.

Changes in Company Leadership

Following Turvey’s appointment, Patrick Anderson will revert to his role as Non-Executive Chair of the Board, while Ken Armstrong will continue as Non-Executive Director.

Don Turvey does not currently hold any common shares in Cornish Metals. He previously served as CEO of Continental Coal Limited, which entered a standstill arrangement with creditors in February 2014 and was liquidated in 2016.
