A tradie has been taken to hospital with neck injuries after falling from scaffolding in Sydney's east.

The man in his 20s was working at a property in Coogee on Tuesday morning when he fell four metres onto the concrete below.

Due to the man's location after the fall, a special rescue stretcher was required to move him to avoid risking further injury.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition after a joint operation by Special Operations paramedics and NSW Police Rescue.

NSW Ambulance Inspector Kathryn Mansfield said given the length of the fall, his injuries could have been much worse.

"Paramedics placed a neck collar and pelvic binder on him and administered pain relief," Insp Mansfield said.

"This is a timely reminder to take appropriate safety precautions when working at height."
