Rising NSW sprinter Sebastian Sultana has smashed the Australian under-18 100m record with a flying run of 10.27 seconds.

The 17-year-old set the junior record at the Illawong High Velocity meet in Sydney's south on Saturday evening, stripping 0.11 off the previous mark set by Jack Hale in 2015.

Sultana has taken giant strides in recent months, improving his PB from 10.53 to 10.42 and now to 10.27.

In a high-quality race with a legal tailwind of 0.8m per second, Sultana finished just ahead of Carl Coorey-Ewings (10.29), whose coach Andrew Murphy also mentors Australia's leading sprinter Rohan Browning.

The run of 10.42 earlier in October consigned Browning's NSW Under-18 record to the history books.

And now he has the national mark too.

Sultana - who also excelled at soccer before deciding to focus on athletics - is coached by Greg Smith.
