The Queensland Government is set to supercharge clean transport uptake in the state as it has announced an AU$55 million package.
Moreover, the AU$55 million funding announced by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk includes an AU$3,000 subsidy for anyone buying an EV to the value of AU$58,000.
This funding comes under “Queensland Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy 2022-2032 (ZEV)” and aims to make EVs more affordable. The state seeks to hit net-zero by 2050. Thus, the government is trying to make buying electric cars just that little bit cheaper.

As per media reports, transport and primary roads minister Mark Bailey stated this was essential to strengthen QLD’s position as a world leader in the low-emissions future. The AU$55 package will likely help QLD in becoming a renewable energy superpower.
Further benefits
With this step, QLD will likely get a financial boost to switch to EV while the current Palaszczuk Government will build more charging infrastructure across the Sunshine State.
The government has already revolutionised EV travel through the Queensland Electric Superhighway. This highway is currently being expanded to almost 3800 kms.
Now Queenslanders will have even more charging stations that will encourage people to buy EVs and build confidence in the automotive industry to set up shop.
Bottom line
This new EV strategy is a new fundamental shift in QLD’s transport system. It will help drive down transport emissions in the state while generating new jobs in new industries.
